1. Teaching objectives:

(1) Knowledge objective:

Students can listen, speak, read, and write four phrases of typical activities in the four seasons: go on a picnic, go swimming, pick apples, and make a snowman.

(2) Ability objectives:

①Students can use the integrated knowledge to communicate in situations, use the sentence pattern “Which season do you like best?” to talk about the topic “My favorite season”, and answer this question in detail.

②Students are encouraged and guided to use the contents of this lesson to have independent dialogue according to the reality of their own life.

(3) Emotional objective:

Students are able to appreciate different beauties in the four seasons, which guides students to pay attention to the changes of nature, enjoy the four seasons and enjoy life.

2. Presentation

(1) The teacher presents four pictures about his holidays during last year including play football, play basketball, go swimming and so on, telling students to guess what the teacher did in these four holidays.

(2) The teacher presents the pictures of “go on a picnic”, “go swimming”, “pick apples”, and “make a snowman” to the whole class, asking students to observe these four pictures and answer what Mike, Wu Yifan, Zhang Peng and Chen Jie was doing during their vacation.

(3) Based on the above phrases, the teacher shows her/his favorite season and its corresponding reason and then asks students to guess which season Mike, Wu Yifan, Zhang Peng and Chen Jie like best by looking at the pictures on the book. Elicit students to speak out why Mike, Wu Yifan, Zhang Peng and Chen Jie like these seasons.

(4) Listen and imitate with some corresponding actions.

3. (1) Read in pairs.

Students are invited to read the phrases in pairs. One does some corresponding actions; the other recognizes and reads the new phrases as soon as possible.

(2) Sharp eyes

Divide the whole class into four groups. The teacher shows some pictures on the PPT as quickly as possible and then plays the recorder about some dialogues using the key sentences, eliciting students to recognize their corresponding pictures. The quickest and louder is the winner.

4. Make a survey
